here is the youtube video to the commercial I saw while watching tv on Hulu.
1. Who paid for the ad?
The car company is obviously paying for the ad so they can sell there new car.
2. What group is targeted by the ad?
Men are being targeted because its a car that appeals to men.
3. What about the ad that leads to that conclusion?
The guy in the commercial is being seduced and drawn to the new car when he sees it.
4. What techniques of persuasion are used?
The commercial is using intensity because the car is shown to go fast and it looks very appealing. The lady also says "you'll never forget the first time you see one".
5. What is not being told? What related stories are missing?
It doesn't say how much it is and where its sold. It gets the viewers curious enough to look up this car and want to have it.
6. Is it closer to fantasy or reality?
I think its closer to fantasy because the guy sees a lady bending over fixing her shoe and she seduces him and he leans in to kiss her and she is not a lady but a car.
Haha, I love Super Bowl commercials. That one really got me. I knew that FIAT was a car manufacturer, but then the seductress came on and I was like where's the car.... Oh, the woman IS the car! Great job.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you! It is so interesting how men and women find different things appealing in commercials...because I definitely don't care about that car. I also HATE how car commercials pretty much never give you a price! That's how they reel you in, haha. Nice pick!
ReplyDeleteThis was a commercial that I had not seen before, but I do have to say it was pretty funny. It took me a minute to realize exactly what was going on. I think this commercial shows how women are usually portrayed in commercials, being very seductive. Overall, I think this was a great pick for the final deconstruction for the class!
